You can upload your videos to numerous places for the purpose of exposing as many people as possible to your content. At this time, the platforms that offer the most value are:
YouTube – YouTube is owned by Google and currently holds the distinction of being the world’s 2nd largest search engine (Google itself is #1). YouTube is an ideal platform to introduce yourself to prospective clients and to reveal both your personality and expertise. YouTube is also a social media site in that viewers will use the comments section to ask questions, offer suggestions and engage with you.
YouTube offers a paid search option, but currently, in many cases you can generate excellent results without buying traffic since there simply are not very many quality legal educational videos online.
Facebook – there is a very good chance that a high percentage of your prospective clients visit Facebook on a daily basis. Every law firm that offers services to consumers should have a Facebook page that offers useful information and a way to interact with visitors.
You can create an educational video section on your firm’s page and this is where you would upload the same videos you have also uploaded to YouTube. You can tag videos with search terms and you can create playlists to make video viewing easier.
Facebook also offers paid search options but keep in mind that people visit Facebook to engage with friends and others who have similar interests. Your Facebook page and uploaded videos should. be designed to nourish the communities your clients are part of.
AVVO – AVVO is a private company that allows visitors to post ratings and reviews while searching for attorneys. Currently lawyer profiles on AVVO are free so if you have not yet completed your profile you should do so. AVVO also allows you to publish written or video “guides” that explain legal topics.
You cannot upload a video directly to AVVO – instead you will link to a YouTube video.
AVVO has great search penetration on Google so a high percentage of individuals searching for legal advice may end up on AVVO. Here, too, you can pay for placement but you can also build out a very robust free profile using video guides.
LinkedIn – LinkedIn is a networking platform for professionals. You can publish updates as well as articles, both of which can include videos you have created.
LinkedIn is an effective platform to keep your name and expertise in front of colleagues and other referral sources.
Twitter – Twitter is the largest “microblogging” platform on the planet. Y0u can embed YouTube or Facebook hosted videos into tweets to enhance distribution. Because Twitter publishes tweets chronologically, as they are generated, very few tweets have staying power.
One way around this is to use an automated social media republishing service so that your tweet (with video) will be published multiple times per day, week or month.
Our experience has been that Twitter can increase your visibility among potential clients and professional colleagues but you are not likely to see much in the way of direct response.
